Shushan Hovsepyan

Shushan Hovsepyan is a pediatric oncology and hematology senior fellow at the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, Hematology Center after Prof. R. H. Yeolyan. She received her medical degree (M.D.) at the Yerevan State Medical University’s General Medicine faculty with the Nominal Student Scholarship. She had a one-year clinical fellowship at the pediatric oncology unit of the National Institute of Cancer in Milan, Italy, where her main focus was on pediatric sarcomas and rare tumors. Moreover, Shushan was a clinical observer at the pediatric oncology unit of the St. Anna Children’s Research Hospital in Austria for six months. She graduated from the Postgraduate Harvard Medical School’s Effective Writing for Healthcare online program about writing and reviewing medical-scientific manuscripts. She recently became co-chair of the SIOP Global Health Network Education and Training Working Group. She is also an ESCO graduate since 2022 and a member of SIOP, ASCO, ESO, and EpSSG. Her main interests in pediatric oncology are pediatric soft tissue sarcomas, and adolescents and young adults with cancer. Currently, she is working on projects in pediatric oncology under the mentorship of Dr. Papyan. 


ABOUT OUR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The program’s goal is to foster the professional development of the oncology research workforce as part of IMMONC’s goal to create a reliable and sustainable environment for the conduct of cancer research in Armenia.

This program will provide fellows with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct quality research and give them the opportunity to receive mentorship, guidance, and multidisciplinary support to conduct an innovative research study of their choosing.

Each participant will undertake a research project with the help of their designated mentor, thereby acquiring valuable experience and skills. This opportunity will enable them to lead future projects with confidence and independence.
