Dr. Samvel Bardakhchyan, MD, PhD, is a medical oncologist in the Adults Solid Tumors Chemotherapy Department since May 2019. Prior to that, he worked in the chemotherapy department at "Muratsan” hospital complex until 2019. Dr. Bardakhchyan completed his residency in Oncology at the “Muratsan” hospital complex of Yerevan State Medical University in 2017, after studying at the University. Dr. Bardakhchyan won the ASCO International Development and Education Award in 2020. He received his PhD degree in 2021 and obtained ESMO accreditation in medical oncology in 2022. He is scientific director of Immune oncology research institute since 05/2022. He is adjunct associate professor in oncology at Yerevan State Medical University since 2024. His main areas of interest are thoracic malignancies, gastrointestinal malignancies and CNS tumors.
Dr. Bardakhchyan is the principal investigator of IMMONC0008 study “Assessment of the Safety and Efficacy of Balstilimab in combination with Botensilimab for the Treatment of Non-small cell lung cancer” (NCT06322108) and chair of IMMONC0001 study “Assessment of the Safety and Efficacy of Balstilimab for the Treatment of Relapsed/Refractory Lymphomas” (NCT05891821). In 2025 Dr. Bardakhchyan received “Scientific Efficiency Promotion Grant” of Ministry of Health of Armenia as principal investigator of “Assessment of the correlation between the level of T-regulatory, CD4+, CD8+ T-cells, CD4/CD8 ratio and immunotherapy response in cancer patients” study. He is also principal investigator at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center site for the “A Study to Compare Pharmacokinetics, Efficacy, Safety, and Immunogenicity of MB12 (Proposed Pembrolizumab Biosimilar) to Keytruda® in Non-small Cell Lung Cancer (BENITO Study)” (NCT06687369) clinical trial.
Dr. Bardakhchyan has 23 published research papers, coauthors 2 book chapters and multiple abstracts. He regularly participates in oncological conferences and seminars. Dr. Bardakhchyan is a member of several professional organizations, including the Armenian Association of Hematology and Oncology (AAHO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the Armenian Haematology Association (AHA).
