LUNG CANCER WORKING GROUP

The Lung Cancer Working Group (LCWG) is a team of experts in various fields who specialize in thoracic malignancies in Armenia. This multidisciplinary team consists of medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, thoracic surgeons, pathologists, and radiologists, who convene bi-weekly to discuss the management strategy for patients diagnosed with thoracic malignancies such as lung cancers, mesotheliomas, thymic carcinomas, or thymomas. The primary objective of these meetings is to enhance the quality of medical care provided to patients suffering from these conditions, while also promoting knowledge sharing and improved communication within the local medical community. The group also engages in clinical and public health research in the field of thoracic oncology, and has taken on the vital task of adapting international guidelines for the management of thoracic malignancies to the Armenian language and context.

Professor Gregory Peter Kalamkerian supervises and mentors the working group. Dr. Kalemkerian is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan's Division of Hematology/Oncology, where he serves as the Associate Division Chief for Faculty Development and Education, Associate Director of the Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, and Co-Director of the Thoracic Oncology Clinical Research Team.
